Cool Story
"How is my little boy? Is he going to be all right? When can I see him?"
The surgeon said, "I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make it."
Sally said, "Why do little children get cancer ? Doesn't God care any more ? Where were you, God, when my son needed you ?"
The surgeon asked, "Would you like some time alone with your son ? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he's transported to the university."
Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair. "Would you like a lock of his hair ?" the nurse asked.
Sally nodded yes. The nurse cut a lock of the boy's hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.
The mother said, "It was Jimmy's idea to donate his body to the University for Study. He said it might help somebody else. "I said no at first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I won't be using it after I die. Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his Mom." She went on, "My Jimmy had a heart of gold. Always thinking of someone else. Always wanting to help others if he could."
Sally walked out of Children's Mercy Hospital for the last time, after spending most of the last six months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's belongings on the seat beside her in the car.
The drive home was difficult. It w as even harder to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings, and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son's room.
She started placing the model cars and other personal things back in his room exactly where he had always kept them. She laid down across his bed and, hugging his pillow, cried herself to sleep.
It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Laying beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The letter said :
"Dear Mom, I know you're going to miss me; but don't think that I will ever forget you, or stop loving you, just 'cause I'm not around to say "I Love You". I will always love you, Mom, even more with each day. Someday we will see each other again. Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be so lonely, that's okay with me. He can have my room and old stuff to play with. But, if you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like, you know. Don't be sad thinking about me. This really is a neat place. Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything. The angels are so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know what? Jesus doesn't look like any of his pictures. Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him. Jesus himself took me to see GOD ! And guess what, Mom ? I got to sit on God's
knee and talk to Him, like I was somebody important. That's when I told Him that I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you good bye and everything. But I already knew that wasn't allowed. Well, you know what Mom ? God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you u this letter. I think Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to drop this letter off to you. God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him 'Where was He when I needed him ?' "God said He was in the same place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the cross. He was right there, as He always is with all His children. Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I've written except you. To everyone else this is just a blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool ? I have to give God His pen back now He needs it to write some more names in the Book of Life. Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food will be great.
Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt anymore. The cancer is all gone. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent The Angel of Mercy to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special Delivery ! How about that ?
Signed with Love from God, Jesus & Me.

Science vs. God
"Yes, sir."
"So you believe in God?"
"Absolutely."
"Is God good?"
"Sure! God's good."
"Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?"
"Yes."
"Are you good or evil?"
"The Bible says I'm evil."
The professor grins knowingly. "Ah! THE BIBLE!" He considers for a moment. "Here's one for you. Let's say there's a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help them? Would you try?"
"Yes sir, I would."
"So you're good...!"
"I wouldn't say that."
"Why not say that? You would help a sick and maimed person if you could... in fact most of us would if we could... God doesn't."
No answer.
"He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?"
No answer.
The elderly man is sympathetic. "No, you can't, can you?" He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. In philosophy, you have to go easy with the new ones. "Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?"
"Er... Yes."
"Is Satan good?"
"No."
"Where does Satan come from?"
The student falters. "From... God..."
"That's right. God made Satan, didn't he?" The elderly man runs his bony fingers through his thinning hair and turns to the smirking, student audience. "I think we're going to have a lot of fun this semester, ladies and gentlemen." He turns back to the Christian. "Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?"
"Yes, sir."
"Evil's everywhere, isn't it? Did God make everything?"
"Yes."
"Who created evil?"
No answer.
"Is there sickness in this world? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All the terrible things - do they exist in this world?"
The student squirms on his feet. "Yes."
"Who created them?"
No answer.
The professor suddenly shouts at his student. "WHO CREATED THEM? TELL ME, PLEASE!" The professor closes in for the kill and climbs into the Christian's face. In a still small voice: "God created all evil, didn't He, son?"
No answer. The student tries to hold the steady, experienced gaze and fails. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace the front of the classroom like an aging panther. The class is mesmerized. "Tell me," he continues, "How is it that this God is good if He created all evil throughout all time?" The professor swishes his arms around to encompass the wickedness of the world. "All the hatred, the brutality, all the pain, all the torture, all the death and ugliness and all the suffering created by this good God is all over the world, isn't it, young man?"
No answer.
"Don't you see it all over the place? Huh?" Pause. "Don't you?" The professor leans into the student's face again and whispers, "Is God good?"
No answer.
"Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?"
The student's voice betrays him and cracks. "Yes, professor. I do."
The old man shakes his head sadly. "Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen your Jesus?"
"No, sir. I've never seen Him."
"Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?"
"No, sir. I have not."
"Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus...in fact, do you have any sensory perception of your God whatsoever?"
No answer.
"Answer me, please."
"No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't."
"You're AFRAID... you haven't?"
"No, sir."
"Yet you still believe in him?"
"Yes..."
"That takes FAITH!" The professor smiles sagely at the underling. "According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son? Where is your God now?"
The student doesn't answer.
"Sit down, please." The Christian sits...Defeated.
Another Christian raises his hand. "Professor, may I address the class?"
The professor turns and smiles. "Ah, another Christian in the vanguard! Come, come, young man. Speak some proper wisdom to the gathering."
The Christian looks around the room. "Some interesting points you are making, sir. Now I've got a question for you. Is there such thing as heat?"
"Yes," the professor replies. "There's heat."
"Is there such a thing as cold?"
"Yes, son, there's cold too."
"No, sir, there isn't."
The professor's grin freezes. The room suddenly goes very cold.
The second Christian continues. "You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold, otherwise we would be able to go colder than the minus 458 degrees - You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just, the absence of it."
Silence. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom. "Is there such a thing as darkness, professor?"
"That's a dumb question, son. What is night if it isn't darkness? What are you getting at...?"
"So you say there is such a thing as darkness?"
"Yes..."
"You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, Darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker and give me a jar of it. Can you...give me a jar of darker darkness, professor?"
Despite himself, the professor smiles at the young effrontery before him. This will indeed be a good semester. "Would you mind telling us what your point is, young man?"
"Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with and so your conclusion must be in error...."
The professor goes toxic. "Flawed...? How dare you...!"
"Sir, may I explain what I mean?" The class is all ears.
"Explain... oh, explain..." The professor makes an admirable effort to regain control. Suddenly he is affability itself. He waves his hand to silence the class, for the student to continue.
"You are working on the premise of duality," the Christian explains. "That for example there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science cannot even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism but has never seen, much less fully understood them. To view death, as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, merely the absence of it." The young man holds up a newspaper he takes from the desk of a neighbor who has been reading it. "Here is one of the most disgusting tabloids this country hosts, professor. Is there such a thing as immorality?"
"Of course there is, now look..."
"Wrong again, sir. You see, immorality is merely the absence of morality. Is there such thing as injustice? No. Injustice is the absence of justice. Is there such a thing as evil?" The Christian pauses. "Isn't evil the absence of good?"
The professor's face has turned an alarming color. He is so angry he is temporarily speechless. The Christian continues. "If there is evil in the world, professor, and we all agree there is, then God, if he exists, must be accomplishing a work through the agency of evil. What is that work, God is accomplishing? The Bible tells us it is to see if each one of us will, of our own free will, choose good over evil."
The professor bridles. "As a philosophical scientist, I don't view this matter as having anything to do with any choice; as a realist, I absolutely do not recognize the concept of God or any other theological factor as being part of the world equation because God is not observable."
"I would have thought that the absence of God's moral code in this world is probably one of the most observable phenomena going," the Christian replies. "Newspapers make billions of dollars reporting it every week! Tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?"
"If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do."
"Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?"
The professor makes a sucking sound with his teeth and gives his student a silent, stony stare. "Professor. Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a priest?"
"I'll overlook your impudence in the light of our philosophical discussion. Now, have you quite finished?" the professor hisses.
"So you don't accept God's moral code to do what is righteous?"
"I believe in what is - that's science!"
"Ah! SCIENCE!" the student's face spits into a grin. "Sir, you rightly state that science is the study of observed phenomena. Science too is a premise which is flawed..."
"SCIENCE IS FLAWED?" the professor splutters.
The class is in uproar. The Christian remains standing until the commotion has subsided. "To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, may I give you an example of what I mean?" The professor wisely keeps silent. The Christian looks around the room. "Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?" The class breaks out in laughter. The Christian points towards his elderly, crumbling tutor. "Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain... felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain?" No one appears to have done so. The Christian shakes his head sadly. "It appears no one here has had any sensory perception of the professor's brain whatsoever. Well, according to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says the professor has no brain."
The class is in chaos. The Christian sits... Because that is what a chair is for.

The Ant
ORIGINAL VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food or shelter so he dies out in the cold.
MODERN AMERICAN VERSION
The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks he's a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can it be that, in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?
Then a representative of the NAGB (The national association of green bugs) shows up on Nightline and charges the ant with green bias, and makes the case that the grasshopper is the victim of 30 million years of greenism.
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when he sings "It's not easy being green." Bill and Hillary Clinton make a special guest appearance on the CBS Evening News to tell a concerned Dan Rather that they will do everything they can for the grasshopper who has been denied the prosperity he deserves by those who benefited unfairly during the Reagan summers. Richard Gephardt exclaims in an interview with Peter Jennings that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and calls for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his "fair share."
Finally, the EEOC drafts the "Economic Equity and Anti-Greenism Act, retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.
Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal hearing officers that Bill appointed from a list of single-parent welfare moms who can only hear cases on Thursdays between 1:30 and 3:00 p.m.
The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant's food while the government house he's in, which just happens to be the ant's old house, crumbles around him since he doesn't know how to maintain it. The ant has disappeared in the snow. And on the TV, which the grasshopper bought by selling most of the ant's food, they are showing Bill Clinton standing before a wildly applauding group of Democrats announcing that a new era of "fairness" has dawned in America.

The Blood

One night in a church service a young woman felt the tug of God at her heart. She responded to God's call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. The young woman had a very rough past, involving alcohol, drugs, and prostitution. But, the change in her was evident.
As time went on she became a faithful member of the church. She eventually became involved in the ministry, teaching young children. It was not very long until this faithful young woman had caught the eye and heart of the pastor's son. The relationship grew and they began to make wedding plans. This is when the problems began. You see, about one half of the church did not think that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable for a pastor's son.
The church began to argue and fight about the matter. So they decided to have a meeting. As the people made their arguments and tensions increased, the meeting was getting completely out of hand. The young woman became very upset about all the things being brought up about her past. As she began to cry the pastor's son stood. He could not bear the pain it was causing his wife to be. He began to speak and his statement was this:
"My fiancee's past is not what is on trial here. What you are questioning is the ability of the Blood of Jesus to wash away sin. Today you have put the blood of Jesus on trial. So, does it wash away sin or not?"
The whole church began to weep as they realized that they had been slandering the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Too often, even as Christians, we bring up the past and use it as a weapon against our brothers and sisters. Forgiveness is a very foundational part of the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. If the blood of Jesus does not cleanse the other person completely then it cannot cleanse us completely. If that is the case, then we are all in a lot of trouble.
"What can wash away my sins,
nothing but the blood of Jesus..."

Think about it.....

Whatever your cross,
whatever your pain,
there will always be sunshine,
after the rain ...
Perhaps you may stumble,
perhaps even fall,
But God's always ready,
To answer your call ...
He knows every heartache,
sees every tear,
A word from His lips,
can calm every fear ...
Your sorrows may linger,
throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish,
dawn's early light ...
The Savior is waiting,
somewhere above,
To give you His grace,
and send you His love ..
Whatever your cross,
whatever your pain,
"God always sends rainbows ....
after the rain ... "

The Three Trees
Once there were three trees on a hill in the woods. They were discussing their hopes and dreams when the first tree said, "Someday I hope to be a treasure chest. I could be filled with gold, silver and precious gems. I could be decorated with intricate carving and everyone would see the beauty. "Then the second tree said, "Someday I will be a mighty ship. I will take kings and queens across the waters and sail to the corners of the world. Everyone will feel safe in me because of the strength of my hull. "Finally the third tree said, "I want to grow to be the tallest and straightest tree in the forest. People will see me on top of the Hill and look up to my branches, and think of the heavens and God and how close to them I am reaching. I will be the greatest tree of all time and people will always remember me. "After a few years of praying that their dreams would come true, a group of woodsmen came upon the trees. When one came to the first tree he said, "This looks like a strong tree, I think I should be able to sell the wood to a carpenter, "and he began cutting it down. The tree was happy, because he knew that the carpenter would make him into a treasure chest. At the second tree the woodsman said, "This looks like a strong tree. I should be able to sell it to the shipyard." The second tree was happy because he knew he was on his way to becoming a mighty ship. When the woodsmen came upon the third tree, the tree was frightened because he knew that if they cut him down his dreams would not come true. One of the Woodsmen said, "I don't need anything special from my tree, I'll take this one," and he cut it down. When the first tree arrived at the carpenters, he was made into a feed box for animals. He was then placed in a barn and filled with hay. This was not at all what he had prayed for. The second tree was cut and made into a small fishing boat. His dreams of being a mighty ship and carrying kings had come to an end. The third tree was cut into large pieces, and left alone in the dark. The years went by, and the trees forgot about their dreams. Then one day, a man and woman came to the barn. She gave birth and they placed the baby in the hay in the feed box that was made from the first tree. The man wished that he could have made a crib for the baby, but this manger would have to do. The tree could feel the importance of this event and knew that it had held the greatest treasure of all time. Years later, a group of men got in the fishing boat made from the second tree. One of them was tired and went to sleep. While they were out on the water, a great storm arose and the tree didn't think it was strong enough to keep the men safe. The men woke the sleeping man, and He stood and said "Peace" and the Storm stopped. At this time, the tree knew that it had carried the King of Kings in its boat. Finally, someone came and got the third tree. It was carried through the streets as the people mocked the man who was carrying it. When they came to a stop, the man was nailed to the tree and raised in the air to die at the top of a hill. When Sunday came, the tree came to realize that it was strong enough to stand at the top of the hill and be as close to God as was possible, because Jesus had been crucified on it.
The moral of this story is that when things don't seem to be going your way, always know that God has a plan for you. If you place your trust in Him, God will give you great gifts. Each of the trees got what they wanted, just not in the way they had imagined. We don't always know what God's plans are for us. We just know that His ways are not our ways, but His ways are always best.

Rangers' Blalock to have rib surgically removed
HOUSTON -- Texas Rangers third baseman Hank Blalock, who has had shoulder discomfort in recent days, will have surgery to remove a rib Monday and could be out up to three months.

Blalock
Blalock missed Thursday's game against Tampa Bay, but the Rangers thought he would be available for their first interleague series this weekend against Houston.
Instead, team officials said Friday he had been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome, which affects the nerves that pass through the shoulder into the neck. The surgery will remove a rib on the right side of his upper chest.
The two-time All-Star was hitting .285 with five home runs and 16 RBIs.
The Rangers didn't immediately announce a roster move.

The title of this post was the headline of the story on ESPN.com. When I read the title I thought to myself, gee, I am sure glad he is having it surgically removed....I mean seriously, for all you nurses out there, how do you remove a rib other than surgically?
I guess there are other ways.....
...but I am going to choose surgically! :D Have a good weekend!!
Only 8 more days of FedEx Ground!!!!!!! Yay!

Blind pilot flies from London to Sydney
SYDNEY, Australia - A blind British adventurer touched down in Sydney Monday to end an epic 13,500-mile flight by microlight aircraft from London.
Miles Hilton-Barber braved snowstorms, freezing temperatures and torrential downpours during his 59-day journey under the supervision of sighted co-pilot Richard Meredith-Hardy.
“It’s the fulfillment of an amazing dream,” Hilton-Barber, 58, told reporters at Sydney’s Bankstown airport. “I’ve wanted to be a pilot since I was a kid. Now I’m totally blind and I’ve had the privilege of flying more than halfway around the world.
Hilton-Barber, who lost his eyesight to a hereditary condition about 20 years ago, is hoping the trip will raise $2 million for the charity Seeing is Believing, which works for the prevention of blindness in developing countries. He took to the skies from Biggin Hill air base in south London on March 7 in a microlight aircraft, which looks like a cross between a tricycle and a motorized hang-glider, with the aid of an audio device that reads out navigational information such as air speed and altitude.
Hilton-Barber also has conquered Mount Kilimanjaro and Mont Blanc, run marathons in the Sahara and Gobi deserts, and even attempted to reach the South Pole, hauling a sledge over 250 miles of Antarctic ice.

Woman Gives Birth, Abandons Baby On
SF Sidewalk
(CBS 5 / AP / BCN) SAN FRANCISCO A San Francisco woman who allegedly walked away from her baby boy after giving birth to him on a street corner was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment and neglect, police said.Nadine Matthews gave birth on the sidewalk Sunday night, then walked away pretending that it never happened, said SFPD Capt. Al Casciato.
A security guard called 911 after seeing the woman give birth on 5th and Stevenson streets. When an ambulance arrived, a 5-pound, 12-ounce baby boy was found alive and kicking, but his mother was nowhere to be found, said Casciato.
Officers found Matthews, 33, who has no known local address, about two blocks away and covered in blood.
"She denied having a baby, but her clothing was soaked in blood," Casciato said.
The baby was taken to San Francisco General Hospital and placed in the custody of Child Protective Services. The boy did not appear to be injured and was listed in good condition, police said.
Police had to restrain Matthews, who exhibited psychotic behavior and appeared to be suffering from mental illness, said Casciato. He observed that the sidewalk birth was, in a way, probably "the best thing that could have happened to that child."
The scenario was reminiscent of a March 9 birth that occurred on an Oakland sidewalk, authorities said.

Official says woman may keep goat in....
SHERIDAN, Wyo. - Shirley Weidt says people should stop complaining about the goat in her minivan. After all, there’s plenty of room in the ba-a-a-ack with the seats removed.
Despite protests from some residents, city animal control officer Ray Buhr said Weidt isn’t violating any laws or treating the animal cruelly.
“The van is kept clean,” Buhr said. “We’ve checked several times. There’s really nothing in ordinances or state statutes that says she can’t do that. The goat is entirely happy in there.”
Weidt said it’s “nobody’s business” if she keeps her goat in a van. The goat is in the van so it won’t escape, she said.Beverly Saxton, who lives near property Weidt owns, thinks keeping the goat in the minivan is cruel.
“A farm animal should have the opportunity to graze and exercise,” Saxton said. “When it’s trapped in a van, it doesn’t have those possibilities. That’s not an environment for an animal. That’s hideous.”
Other residents have voiced similar concerns about the goat.
Buhr said he doesn’t like the goat being in the van either, but he said the animal has food and water, and the back seats have been removed for more room.
Buhr said animal control officers will continue to check on the goat, noting that once summer arrives, it might be too hot for the goat to stay in the van.

Subject: Old People HOW TO CALL THE POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE.
George opened the back door to go turn off the light but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" and he said "no". Then they said that all patrols were busy, and that he should simply lock his door and an officer would be along when
available. George said, "Okay," hung up, counted to 30, and phoned the police again.
"Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I've just shot them." Then he hung up.
Within five minutes three police cars, an Armed Response Unit, and an ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence and caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the Policemen said to George: "I thought you said that you'd shot them!"
George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"

Spring Break
It was my first experience at being the driver while crossing. Very interesting. When we got to the stop where we were supposed to get our passes for our vans, they told us it was going to be a lot of money per person and that passports were required. Birth certificates would not work. We called Bill Schick and he says, "Go back to the gas station, turn around, and make a run for it." That's what we did. We all got through thanks to the many prayers! Once we got through, we were cruising down the road when suddenly the van ahead of us pulled off to the side. I pulled off behind him but didn't get off the road very far. I remember a semi, horn honking, going around us, fast.
Jose remembered my name for the 2nd time. Sunday morning, he ran up to me saying MICHAEL! That means a lot to me! The kids down there are awesome. They are so much fun. One thing I learned from them is that when there is no pain and when your not scared of anything, you can have a lot of fun. I am convinced most of those kids are not scared of much and they feel little to no pain so they make for an entertaining bunch.
The gravel crew ROCKED my socks! Guitar strings to broken block contests (Matty Matt won with 6 and me and Hodel tied for 3rd with 2 apiece) to coming up with a flawless water bucket plan. Good times had by all, on the gravel crew that is. The bad part of the week was getting sick. The good part of getting sick is girls bringing you food! ; ) and of course, when the girls get sick, they make you things, like hats! Thanks J-dub.
During evening devotions, we went through II Timothy. It was really good. I learned a lot. We also got into a discussion about Spiritual Warfare and Demon Possession. If anyone is an expert, I would like to listen to your thoughts on the whole thing. Thanks! I missed church Wednesday night because I still wasn't feeling good. Me and Jo talked for about an hour in one of the vans. We started about 7:15. An hour later Kris joined us and we had honest hour. Later into the evening, others came and some left. I don't think I got out of the van until 11 or so. That was one of my highlights of the trip.
Sadly, we departed Friday morning. Thankfully, we made it home safe! Thanks to all that went and helped out. J-bone, Matty Matt, Momma Rush, The Lemans, and everyone at CVE. Please continue to pray for CVE as they continue to grow and things continue to change. Bill Schick reminded us that we are in a battle. He said that when you are in a battle, you get shot at. Just because we are living for God doesn't mean that we are not going to have hard times. CVE has been going through some hard times so please continue to remember all those serving there in your prayers!

Its official....

On Friday, I was supposed to leave work early so my dad, my little brother and I could leave for work. Unfortunately something broke at work and my manager was preoccupied. I didn't want to bother reminding him I needed to go early so I just left. I hope I have a job when I go in tomorrow. With the winners we have working there, I don't know if it even matters! Check out this link....FEDEX! :) As soon as I showered and changed clothes, we left.
We drove straight to Kansas City. We went to Neal and Kim's place! Thanks so much! We got there, if I remember right, about 12:30. They had pizza for us! Mathew and me stayed up and talked till about 3! Good times. I slept in until 9. Kim made a good breakfast and then we tried to fly my new kite. There was just not enough wind (or maybe, we are not experienced pilots like the manual said was needed to fly it! :))
At about 11:30, we left for Manhattan. When we got there, we went to our apt complex and I signed the lease! It starts in August! I am so excited! It's a really nice place! Remember, just cause it's in KS doesn't mean you can't come visit! Mi casa es su casa! After that was taken care of, we went to Jason's apt and left his car and walked to campus. It was BEAUTIFUL weather. Sunny and in the high 60's!! Campus was pretty cool! I am excited to go somewhere different!
We then got ready to leave for Sabetha. We stopped at Sonic for a late lunch. My little brother was baffled that the people really brought out our food on roller skates! The food was good and the drive was uneventful except for the fact that 44 oz. of Coke runs through you fast. The drive took forever! :)
After we got to Uncle Paul and Aunt Joan's place, I finished my outline and emailed it to my teacher! Then we all went to Uncle Jim and A Diane's! Good times....pizza, skype, karaoke, talking....good times had by all! We went back to Uncle Paul's for the night. Brian Edelman came over for awhile and we watched SI Top Ten most Most Gruesome/Bizarre Injuries! Check them out for yourself...let me know your favorite! TOP TEN
Sunday morning we about missed church. Jason's phone we were using for an alarm didn't switch times automatically but we made it. We went back to Uncle Jim's for breakfast! Thanks Uncle Jim and A Diane for everything! John and Darcie also came for breakfast so it was really good to get to see them! Uncle Jim said that if I am coming to Kansas, I would have to support the Kansas Livestock Association so he took his license plate off the front of his truck that says EAT BEEF and put it in the back window of my car! I am privileged because that plate has been on the front of his truck for as long as I can remember!
Church was good! I didn't even have to pray....(there were enough visitors)! Timber Leman were there! It was so good to see them! It has been so long! Two amazing sermons! After church, we got in the car and headed back. I slept for a little while and then took over driving. Dad slept and me and Jared had a good ol time! It was a lot of fun but it is good to be back. Now, I have to finish the homework I put off!
Oh, and Jason, if you read this, I got a 50/50 on my outline! I think it was the amazing interview! :) Thanks for everything this weekend!

FedEx employees arrested in drug case
URBANA – Two Champaign men are due back in court later this month to face charges that they stole about 10 pounds of cannabis from a box at FedEx.
Champaign County Assistant State's Attorney Dan Clifton said Deron Frank, 27, who listed an address in the 1800 block of Coventry Drive, and Eric Moody, 27, of the 400 block of Briar Lane, were employees of FedEx in Champaign last May.
Supervisors at FedEx discovered a box going from California to Puerto Rico that contained about 50 pounds of cannabis. They alerted Champaign police about the cannabis but unknown to them, Frank and Moody had previously discovered the box, removed about 10 pounds and kept it for themselves.
The box, minus what the men had taken, was turned over to Champaign police.
In February, during an unrelated internal theft investigation, FedEx supervisors learned what they believed Frank and Moody had done and reported it to police. Both have been charged with unlawful possession with intent to deliver cannabis, a Class 1 felony carrying penalties ranging from probation to four to 15 years in prison.
Police learned from the men that the cannabis had been used or given away.
Frank is due back in court March 13 for a preliminary hearing and Moody on Thursday with a lawyer.
I know this is two posts in one day but....this is good stuff. I worked with Eric Moody. Talked to him some. He seemed like a nice kid. He just got promoted to a managers position a couple of months ago. I talked to him at FedEx about 2 days before he was arrested! :)....Good ol FedEx!
An attorney and a blonde...
The attorney asks if she would like to play a fun game.
The blonde is tired and just wants to take a nap, so she politely declines and rolls over to the window to catch a few winks. The attorney persists. He explains how the game works.
"I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me, and vice-versa."
Again the blonde politely declines and tries to get some sleep. The attorney figures that since his opponent is a blonde he will easily win the match, so he makes another offer.
"If you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5.00, but if don't know the answer, I will pay you $500."
The blonde figures there will be no end to this torment
unless she plays, so she agrees.
The attorney asks, "What's the distance from the Earth to the moon?"
The blonde reaches in to her purse, pulls out a five dollar bill, and hands it to the attorney.
Then she asks the attorney,
"What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?"
The attorney is puzzled. He uses his laptop to search for references. He taps into the air-phone with his modem and searches the Net and the Library of Congress. Frustrated, he sends emails to his coworkers and friends. No luck.
After an hour, he gives up.
He wakes the blonde and hands her $500.00. The blonde politely takes the $500.00 and turns away to get back to sleep. The attorney, who is going nuts trying to figure it out, wakes the blonde and asks,
"Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?"
The blonde reaches into her purse, hands the attorney $5.00 and goes back to sleep.

Runners first modern athletes to cross Sahara
IN THE WESTERN DESERT, Egypt -- Three ultra-endurance athletes have just done something most would consider insane: They ran the equivalent of two marathons a day for 111 days to become the first modern runners to cross the Sahara Desert's grueling 4,000 miles.
"It will take time to sink in ... but this is an absolutely once in a lifetime thing. They say ignorance is bliss, and now that I know how hard this is, I would never consider crossing the Sahara on foot again," said American runner Charlie Engle, 44, hours after he and the others completed the run at Egypt's Red Sea.
Engle said he, Canadian Ray Zahab, 38, and Kevin Lin, 30, of Taiwan, ran the final stretch of their journey that took them through the Giza pyramids and Cairo to the mouth of Suez Canal on four hours of sleep. Once they hit the Red Sea, they put their hands in the water to signify crossing the finish line.
"We touched the water in Senegal at the beginning, and we touched the water in the Red Sea at the end. They were the bookends of our journey," Engle, of Greensboro, North Carolina, said on the telephone from a hotel room in Cairo.
In less than four months, they have run across the world's largest desert, through six countries -- Senegal, Mauritania, Mali, Niger, Libya and finally Egypt.
A film crew followed them, chronicling the desert journey for actor Matt Damon's production company, LivePlanet. Damon plans to narrate the "Running the Sahara" documentary.
The trek is one of extremes. The relentless sun can push temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, but at night it sometimes dips below freezing. Strong winds can abruptly send sand swooping in every direction, making it difficult to see and breathe.
Running through turbulent conditions is nothing new for these athletes who have traveled the world competing in adventure races. But they say nothing has tested their physical and mental limitations like the Sahara.
Throughout the run, the runners have been stricken with tendinitis, severe diarrhea, cramping and knee injuries all while running through the intense heat and wind -- often without a paved road in sight.
"This has been a life-changing event," Engle said.
The runners say they undertook the challenge to see if they could accomplish something that many have called impossible. They use GPS devices to track their route and teamed up with local experts and a host of sports professionals who also followed them, along with the documentary crew, in four-wheel drive vehicles.
Typically, the three began each day with a 4 a.m. wake-up call. About an hour later, they started running. Around noon, they took a lunch break at a makeshift camp, devouring pasta, tuna and vegetables. A short nap on thin mattresses in a yellow-domed tent usually followed before they headed out on the second leg of their day's run.
Finally, around 9:30 p.m., they called it quits each day, returning to camp for a protein and carbohydrate-packed dinner before passing out for the night.
Despite the preparation and drive to finish, the runners said they often questioned -- mostly to themselves -- what they were doing. Zahab described stopping one recent day for a bathroom break only to discover the wind was blowing so harshly that he couldn't keep the sand out of his clothes. "And I thought to myself, 'What the hell am I doing?"' he said.
But Zahab kept going, as did the other two, never skipping a day. Most days the three ran a total of 44 to 50 miles -- sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less.
They were interviewed by The Associated Press on Saturday -- day 108 -- on the side of a road about 112 miles from Cairo in Egypt's harsh Western Desert, part of the greater Sahara.
At several points in their trek, the athletes stopped near sparsely populated wells to talk with villagers and nomads about the difficulties they face finding water. That marked another goal of the run -- raising awareness for the clean water nonprofit group H2O Africa.
"We have seen firsthand the need for clean water, which we take for granted in North America. It's such a foundation for any community," Zahab said during day 108's lunch break. The three plan to fund-raise for the group after they return home and finish recuperating.
"It started off as a huge motivator, especially as we passed through countries where the water wasn't clean," Engle said.
But as the trio's bodies became more depleted, the focus was "the day-to-day battle to stay alive and keep moving," he said.

Taps
Reportedly, it all began in 1862 during the Civil War, when Union Army Captain Robert Ellicombe was with his men near Harrison 's Landing in
During the night, Captain Ellicombe heard the moans of a soldier who lay severely wounded on the field. Not knowing if it was a
When the Captain finally reached his own lines, he discovered it was actually a Confederate soldier, but the soldier was dead.
The Captain lit a lantern and suddenly caught his breath and went numb with shock. In the dim light, he saw the face of the soldier. It was his own son. The boy had been studying music in the South when the war broke out. Without telling his father, the boy enlisted in the Confederate Army.
The following morning, heartbroken, the father asked permission of his superiors to give his son a full military burial, despite his enemy status. His request was only partially granted.
The Captain had asked if he could have a group of Army band members play a funeral dirge for his son at the funeral.
The request was turned down since the soldier was a Confederate.
But, out of respect for the father, they did say they could give him only one musician.
The Captain chose a bugler. He asked the bugler to play a series of musical notes he had found on a piece of paper in the pocket of the dead youth's uniform.
This wish was granted.
The haunting melody, we now know as "Taps" ... used at military funerals was born.
The words are :
Day is done..
Gone the sun.
From the lakes.
From the hills.
From the sky.
All is well.
Safely rest.
God is nigh.
Fading light.
Dims the sight.
And a star.
Gems the sky.
Gleaming bright.
From afar.
Drawing nigh.
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise.
For our days.
Neath the sun.
Neath the stars.
Neath the sky.
As we go.
This we know.
God is nigh.
I received an email with this story in it. I got to looking around on the internet and I started finding all different ways Taps was originated. If this is not right, please forgive. However, just as you imagined, the email claimed this way to be true but this website says differently. Believe what you want, I still think that this is a cool story!

Shaped and Molded
Isaiah 64:8.

I have been thinking a lot lately about me being the clay. I don't feel worthy to be the clay that the Creator of the universe is using. I feel as though I am dry and crumbly. God is trying to mold a vase with my life and I want a bowl. Why don't I just give in and let God make that vase? Why do I think that my vessel will be better than His?

In what ways can I change to allow that vase to be made? My bowl would break during its lifetime. Although, I am sure that I could repair the bowl, if I went with letting God make a vase out of my life, I would be a strong vessel to put on God's shelf with all his other pottery! I can't wait for heaven when we get to see God's collection of beautiful pottery he has molded and shaped. Are you going to be one of the vessels found in his collection?

A blind man was flying...
a stop-over in Sacramento.
The flight attendant explained that there would be a delay, and if the
passengers wanted to get off the aircraft, the plane would re-board in one
hour. Everybody got off the plane except one gentleman who
was blind. Another man had noticed him as he walked by and could tell the
gentleman was blind because his Seeing Eye Dog lay quietly underneath the
seats in front of him throughout the entire flight.
He could also tell he had flown this very flight before because the pilot
approached him, and calling him by name, said, "Keith, we're in
Sacramento for an hour, would you like to get off and stretch
your legs?
"The blind man replied, "No thanks, but maybe my dog would like to stretch
his legs."
Picture this: All the people in the gate area came to a complete
standstill when they looked up and saw the pilot walk off the plane with a
Seeing Eye Dog! The pilot was even wearing sunglasses. People scattered.
They not only tried to change planes, but they were trying to change
airlines!

Some People....
...amaze me...wow...
DECATUR, Ill. -- How do you spell Scott Wiese?
In a few weeks, that'd be P-e-y-t-o-n M-a-n-n-i-n-g.
Wiese, a die-hard fan of the Chicago Bears, signed a pledge in front of a crowd at a Decatur bar last Friday night that if the Bears lost Sunday's Super Bowl, he'd change his name to that of the man who led the Indianapolis Colts to victory.
Final score: Colts 29, Bears 17.
So Tuesday, Wiese went to the Macon County Courts Facility and started the process of changing his name.
"I made the bet, and now I've got to keep it," the 26-year-old Wiese said.
Wiese will have to advertise his intention in the local newspaper -- the Herald & Review -- for several weeks and then have a judge give him the OK to become, legally anyway, Peyton Manning.
The men have little in common, Wiese acknowledges.
Manning is 30 years old, stands 6-foot-5 and has a contract with the Colts worth more than $100 million.
Wiese is 5-foot-11 and works at an office-supply store for somewhat less.
"I think I kind of represent all Bears fans," he said. "Not that I'm saying they're all idiots like me, but I represent their passion because I really care about my team, you know?"

The week....
I am taking a weather class this semester. I like it a lot. I am learning what the different numbers, lines, and marks on a weather map are. It is very cool because the weather is something that affects every single person in the world every day. It is cool being able to tell what to expect.
This weekend, I went to Belvidere to visit the Steffen residence. Nice place. Very cold. Good food. Small church. More good food. Still cold. Long drive home.
Tonight, BAM had all the guys over to his place. It was BAM, Moges, and me. Josh Steffen and JHod stopped in. Very poor turnout. Sorry BAM. Don't know what to tell you but thanks for having us.
The rest of the week looks full. Tomorrow, finish preparing speech. Work. Read Bible for recording. Wed, give my speech on the process of milk, ISU is coming for church...prolly going to be late. Thur, online homework, work, ISU for Bible Study. Friday, just school, work, and then going home! :D Hope everyone has a great week!!!

Punxsutawney Phil Prediction: An Early Spring

At 7:28 a.m. EST this morning, amateur weather prognosticator Phil the Groundhog did NOT see his shadow, meaning that there will be an early spring.
The early-spring proclamation was made in front of an estimated 15,000 onlookers waiting in 28 degrees temperatures in the sleepy Pennsylvania hamlet of Punxsutawney, home to the annual Feb. 2 event.
According to the records provided by local organizers, today is the first time since 1999 that Phil did NOT see his shadow. This is only the 15th times in the last 120 years this has occurred.
In years when the Groundhog does see his shadow, the legend says that there will be six more weeks of winter.
The tradition of Groundhog Day is believed to have evolved from a German celebration called Candlemas. In a tradition that now shadows the Groundhog tradition, if the sun made an appearance on the mid-winter day and a hedgehog casts a shadow, there will be six more weeks of winter.
The Candlemas tradition was brought to Pennsylvania and the rest of the U.S. by German settlers in the 18 th and early 19 th century.

Jenny Wyss.....
Ummm....let's see...it has been forever but in a way, it kind of actually feels nice to be blogging again. As I opened my Bible to read, I read the verse that this blog is titled after, Psalms 18:2. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. As I read this, it really gave me comfort with my decision to go to Kansas State this coming fall. I feel that God will be going with me because he is my rock and my fortress.
Another thought I had while reading this verse is all the names mentioned for Christ in the Bible. This is a pretty long list but here goes....And He shall be called...

Jesus Christ
I will call upon the Lord
Who is worthy to be praised
So shall I be saved from my enemies
The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock
And let the God of my salvation be exalted
The Lord liveth, and blessed be the Rock
And let the God of my salvation be exalted
