Spring Break

It's over and it was good, real good. I went to CVE in Magdalena. It was my third time but it was just as good as the first two. The drive out was good. Good people, good talks, good Texas Longhorn, good food! Just an overall good time. Well, we did have to add 3 quarts of oil to the van I was responsible for so I ended up driving for about 12 straight hours. Oh well. That to was good. After the first 3 quarts, we didn't have to add anymore.

It was my first experience at being the driver while crossing. Very interesting. When we got to the stop where we were supposed to get our passes for our vans, they told us it was going to be a lot of money per person and that passports were required. Birth certificates would not work. We called Bill Schick and he says, "Go back to the gas station, turn around, and make a run for it." That's what we did. We all got through thanks to the many prayers! Once we got through, we were cruising down the road when suddenly the van ahead of us pulled off to the side. I pulled off behind him but didn't get off the road very far. I remember a semi, horn honking, going around us, fast.

Jose remembered my name for the 2nd time. Sunday morning, he ran up to me saying MICHAEL! That means a lot to me! The kids down there are awesome. They are so much fun. One thing I learned from them is that when there is no pain and when your not scared of anything, you can have a lot of fun. I am convinced most of those kids are not scared of much and they feel little to no pain so they make for an entertaining bunch.

The gravel crew ROCKED my socks! Guitar strings to broken block contests (Matty Matt won with 6 and me and Hodel tied for 3rd with 2 apiece) to coming up with a flawless water bucket plan. Good times had by all, on the gravel crew that is. The bad part of the week was getting sick. The good part of getting sick is girls bringing you food! ; ) and of course, when the girls get sick, they make you things, like hats! Thanks J-dub.

During evening devotions, we went through II Timothy. It was really good. I learned a lot. We also got into a discussion about Spiritual Warfare and Demon Possession. If anyone is an expert, I would like to listen to your thoughts on the whole thing. Thanks! I missed church Wednesday night because I still wasn't feeling good. Me and Jo talked for about an hour in one of the vans. We started about 7:15. An hour later Kris joined us and we had honest hour. Later into the evening, others came and some left. I don't think I got out of the van until 11 or so. That was one of my highlights of the trip.

Sadly, we departed Friday morning. Thankfully, we made it home safe! Thanks to all that went and helped out. J-bone, Matty Matt, Momma Rush, The Lemans, and everyone at CVE. Please continue to pray for CVE as they continue to grow and things continue to change. Bill Schick reminded us that we are in a battle. He said that when you are in a battle, you get shot at. Just because we are living for God doesn't mean that we are not going to have hard times. CVE has been going through some hard times so please continue to remember all those serving there in your prayers!
